Those of us who are of the creative variety understand that we must express ourselves through art, or we may just want to kill somebody. I know it may seem extreme, but once you've poured out what has been ailing you, you feel 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 time better!
Its been times where I've wanted to slap the sh*t out of the next person with something slick to say, but then I place my anger into words on paper, and when I'm done that hostility disappears. Art is meant to reflect what the people have been going through during a certain time frame. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of stories written, paintings painted, sculptures sculpted and photographs photographed on how this economic downfall has affected them and their family's lives.
I try to write about what I know, see, do, and hope for. And in the near future, I will create masterpieces, at least in my eyes, that will have people feeling hopeful for the future, and also show those who are from poverty or lower middle class neighborhoods that they too can make it if they go for what it is that they are passionate about.
We need the arts just as much as we need math, science and English because it allows a person to open up another part of the mind. It's another form of intelligence that needs to be exercised. If any form of expression isn't open, a people's imagination will die, thus allowing people to not think critically for themselves.
Art can move you. Art can inspire you. Art can force you to reflect on what it is you are doing as well. You know, once I tried not to listen to music for a week. No music what so ever, and guess what? I was angry and pissed off by the time the 3rd day came around.
Support the arts and life will always make sense.
